Data only tariffs

You need to stay connected in a way that is reliable, efficient and affordable. O2’s Mobile Broadband provides excellent value, easy internet access, whenever you need it and wherever you are. Simply use an O2 data card or plug an O2 dongle directly into a USB port on your laptop. This functions as a modem, connecting you to the internet via the O2 network. We can offer mobile broadband in many forms, ranging from data cards for laptops, through to our mobile office which allows you to connect several devices to a mobile data dongle. With the right device you could even create a small, temporary wifi hotspot for employees or citizens.

Aggregated data (No.10 only)

As your users make increasing use of data on the move, most buyers become concerned about the risk of overage charges being incurred. Even though most users may use much less than the bundle they have been given, you pay an excess for those that use more. You can aggregate your data allowance across qualifying connections, so that you get to use ALL of the data that you are paying for, dramatically reducing the risk of overage charges. It works like this: the individual data bundle for users with a No.10 subscription can be shared between them, so that you only pay extra if the total usage exceeds the total amount of data.

Benefits

  • Share data across No.10 users for just £2/month per subscription
  • Reduce the risk of overage charges
  • Increased value delivered through enabling the use of ALL of the data that you are paying for

What our customers say

We could tell you all about the cost-saving, productivity and security benefits of mobilising your workforce with tablets. But we think it’s better if you hear it straight from your peers. So, here are some recent thoughts from a handful of our public and third sector customers…

“O2 worked with us to develop a plan to replace our whole estate with brand new devices and a mobile data project which spanned across three police forces. It was important to us that we could clearly articulate savings while keeping the whole project manageable, and that’s why the No. 10 Tariff was so appealing. It allowed us to considerably reduce costs, while equipping our front line and back office staff with the latest 4G technology.”

Ian Bell
Head of ICT BCH, Cambridgeshire Constabulary

“O2 worked with us to develop an affordable plan to supply iPads to our employees, and they’ve made a real difference to how we work smarter. Crucially, we now have access to customer detail such as outstanding rents so we can follow up on the move. This enables our housing support workers to update back end systems away from the office saving both time and money.”

Martin Crouch
IT Service Manager, Amicus Horizon

“We spoke to O2 as part of a project to roll out mobile working to our organisation and they explained the benefits of the No. 10 Tariff to us. We realised we could take advantage of the great value and ease of procurement of the No. 10 Tariff, as well as the numerous other benefits this would bring to Barnardo’s. The roll-out of tablets and smartphones has increased the mobility of our workforce, been delivered at a lower cost and increased job satisfaction amongst our staff.”

IT Services Manager, Barnardo’s

Chichester District Council

Introduction

Chichester is a largely rural local government district in West Sussex, England. Its council is based in the city of Chichester. CDC has 48 councillors, representing 14 wards. 700 people work in the main offices, with more in leisure centres around the district. Apart from the few main roads the area is generally rural.

West Sussex County Council and CDC are major employers in Chichester, along with Rolls-Royce Motor Cars assembly plant at nearby Westhampnett. Many people from the northern parts of the district commute to work in London and arable farming and intensive vegetable production employ many migrant workers.

The Challenge

Towards the end of 2009, CDC decided that it needed much more proactive account management from its existing mobile communications supplier. With ever-increasing possibilities available from technology, CDC found that its existing supplier was very difficult to reach and unresponsive. CDC wanted a mobile provider that would be much more proactive and would help CDC make the right choices both day-by-day and in the longer term.

Equally, whilst its fixed line provider kept its pricing low, CDC was not prepared to accept poor customer service, with billing issues, duplicate invoicing and little attention to detail.

“Ultimately,” says Jodie Maskell, Communications & Network Officer, CDC, “if you have to keep chasing simple requests and check everything twice, it’s a false economy to go with the cheapest provider based on price alone.”

The Solution

After consulting EZ, a company which helps businesses find services, CDC decided to ask O2 to come in and discuss how CDC could get more from its communications.

Maskell recalls “From the very first meeting we had with O2 it was clear that they had investigated what we did as a council. They had already examined our targets and understood what we were trying to achieve which, in the first meeting, is very impressive. They knew what we wanted before we did.”

CDC could see the enormous value-added benefit that O2 would bring. O2 immediately identified several ways in which CDC could increase efficiency for a relatively small outlay. CDC chose O2 for both its mobile and fixed communications. “Because we were so keen on the mobile side, it made sense to move our landlines to O2 as well.” says Maskell.

The council’s landlines were all switched over smoothly. O2 appointed a project manager who made sure that paperwork was completed well in advance of the transfer of lines and anticipated and resolved any potential problems. CDC staff and their clients noticed no break in service at all.

Now, six months in, Maskell finds O2 “Excellent.” She explains: “on the mobile side the OGC customer service team is really good. I already have a good relationship with most of the people there: we’re on first name terms already. All round it’s a pretty excellent service.”

As a result of O2’s proactive management, CDC has been able to get rid of some old devices altogether, cutting costs and increasing productivity. CDC used to provide its lone workers with a dedicated device for their safety, but now they use the application on their mobile which can track them in a way that’s required for their safety. Maskell says “O2’s guidance has been very useful, even for products they don’t supply themselves, which you really don’t get from many companies these days. They’re like an on-call advice service.”

Maskell is particularly pleased with O2 billing manager. She says “It is fantastic. Previously we used to get a disk with info on for the bills but it was quite long-winded. I can now access anyone’s bill and pull off any information I need.”

In summary, CDC believes it has made significant savings on both mobile and fixed lines by moving to O2.

In the future, CDC is planning to take advantage of O2’s device management tool, which allows devices to be managed remotely.

The challenge

Help a district council manage its costs and maintain service to its widespread population.

The solution

O2’s proactive management guides Chichester District Council (CDC) through technology to meet all their requirements now and in the future.

Results

  • Significant cost savings
  • Better cost management
  • Increased productivity
  • Streamlined service to customers
  • Simplified lone-worker safety

Products and services

  • Fixed line
  • Mobile voice and data

All round it’s a pretty excellent service.
